So, you are planning to visit Haarlem. Good choice! Now comes the important part: deciding where to sleep.
You’ve got a few options: a hotel, a hostel, an apartment, or you can go camping.
hotels
I live in Haarlem, so my knowledge of the quality of hotels in Haarlem is mostly based on what people have told me about their experience. I am planning on extending my knowledge about our hotels soon by doing some more first hand research, but for now I think it is best to redirect you to the common booking and travel websites for more info on Haarlem hotels.
apartments
When I travel myself, I usually stay in privately owned apartments that I find on AirBnB. In Haarlem, more and more people are putting their apartments (or private rooms) up for rent, so do check that out if you prefer to stay at an apartment instead of an hotel.
hostels
Haarlem has two hostels. Hostel StayOkay is located on the northern part of town (note: it is not at walking distance from the city centre. You’ll need a bike, or maybe even a car). The other one is called Hello I’m Local, which is more centrally located, but it is a boutique hostel which means it’s a bit more expensive than you might expect from a hostel.
campsites
If cheap is your thing, you can also consider going camping. But be aware: you’ll need a bike to get from the campsites to the city centre (and sometimes also to get to the beach) and camping in Haarlem isn’t as cheap as you might hope.
Three campsites are located between Haarlem town and the beach of Bloemendaal (Het Helmgat, De Lakens and camping Bloemendaal) and one is a so called city campsite.
If you know of a nice place to stay or have any good or bad experiences with a hotel or apartment, please share it with me here or under this post.
Thanks and enjoy your stay!
