Night of the churches (Kerkennacht) – Friday June 19
Once every two years over 100 churches in the Netherlands open their doors to those that are curious about what goes on in a church today. In Haarlem, 10 churches have decided to take this idea one step further: they are not only opening their doors for you at night, but together they have invited a selection of the talented musicians living in Haarlem to perform inside the different churches. If you want to hear the churches’ organs being played, please come back another time for tonight it’s all about punk, singer songwriters, guitar virtuosos and brit pop.
19h-23h / free entrance / multiple locations
Antiques market – Saturday June 20
Antiques market that is held every first and third Saturday of the month during spring and summer. Over 90 stalls!

Harlem Shuffle Festival – Saturday June 20
This free festival is organized by our local music venue Patronaat. Expect everything from punk to hiphop to dirty rock’n roll and dance. The Harlem Shuffle Festival is held in our city park the Haarlemmerhout, just outside of the city centre (southern side). It’s the third edition and it is closely connected to another free festival on Sunday, more about that below. You can bring your own drinks and food, but a bit of support is always needed, so do buy a beer from the lovely Patronaat crew and maybe a little snack from one of the food trucks.
16h – 24 h / free entrance / Haarlemmerhout (between Dreef, Paviljoenslaan and Kleine Houtweg)
Another free festival in our city park. While yesterday’s festival was all about pop music, today world music takes the center stage. The Houtfestival is for the whole family. The special children’s area offers story telling, theatre, music and various craft activities. Parents will not be bored as well: the artists on the main stage are out to make you dance and there are a lot of new artist to be discovered on the special talent stage. Into more experimental music? There’s a lot for you as well. Stay close to the Borderless stage and let yourself be surprised. There is also a food market that offers delicious snacks from all over the world (organic and fair-trade!). Enjoy!
12h – 22h / free entrance / Haarlemmerhout (between Dreef, Paviljoenslaan and Kleine Houtweg; exact same spot as yesterday’s Harlem Shuffle Festival)
